About us
By musicians, for musicians
We are Alexander and Lorenz. We founded neumascan in 2026 because typing out sheet music and transposing it by hand takes far too much time.
What we do
From sheet music to a part in any key
-
Snap and recognize
Upload a photo or PDF: neumascan reads the notes and turns them into a score you can edit.
-
Check and listen
The score editor points out uncertain spots for you to check. Fix them with a click and listen to the piece.
-
Transpose and export
Any key with a single click – as a PDF to print, or as MusicXML or MIDI for your notation software.
Our goal: recognize sheet music reliably and transpose it into any key with a single click – for musicians all over the world.
Who we are
The founders
-
Alexander Muhr
Co-founder · Clarinetist, web and graphic designer
Alexander is a clarinetist as well as a web and graphic designer. Because the clarinet is a transposing instrument, he knows the problem first-hand: typing out sheet music or transposing it by hand takes a lot of time, and the existing music recognition programs never convinced him. That is why, in 2026, he founded neumascan together with Lorenz. Their goal is to recognize sheet music reliably and transpose it into any key with a single click – for musicians all over the world.
-
Lorenz Kutschka
Co-founder · Full-stack development and artificial intelligence
Lorenz combines his expertise in full-stack development with his research in artificial intelligence. At neumascan, he builds the technological foundations that make precise and reliable automated document capture possible. His aim is to bring the scan success rate as close to 100% as possible through intelligent algorithms and continuous optimization.
What we stand for
Our principles
-
Reliable
Better to flag a spot for checking than to guess wrong in silence.
-
One click
Transposing should be as easy as taking a photo.
-
Close to 100%
We test every improvement on real sheet music before it goes live.
-
For everyone
neumascan speaks English, German, French and Japanese.
